Quinoa Idli Recipe

Quinoa is a very healthy grain. It has more protein than any other grain.It contains all the essential amino acids.This grain is easy to digest and gluten free. Try idlis' made with this grain. Enjoy them with coconut chutney  or with sambhar.

Makes: 8 idlis

  • 1 cup of Quinoa, washed properly and soaked overnight
  • 1/4 cup of Urad dal/ skinned black gram soaked overnight
  • 2 tbsp of puffed rice/poha
  • salt as per taste
  • black pepper as per taste
  • some coriander leaves finely chopped
  • some green onions finely chopped
  • oil to grease the idli maker
  1. Grind the quinoa and Urad dal separately and then mix them.
  2. Wash puffed rice and grind them too. Mix puffed rice with quinoa and urad dal.
  3. Keep this batter aside for fermentation. Keep it in a hot place for fast fermentation.
  4. Once batter is fermented, mix all the other ingredients in it.
  5. Grease the idli maker properly and pour the batter in it.
  6. Cook the for 20 minutes on medium flame.
